And do you only need to get one "taco"? i have no concept of the
size lol. I really wanted one in LA last week, looks like im about
to walk 3 miles to get one in NY :D
You probably need 3 on a regular American appetite but maybe
only 2 for non Americans. I wish you would have said something, we
could have easily gone for tacos instead of what we had for
lunch.
@iamnotdrtan: NY only
has wannabe pizza anyway, so why bother?
@colinmercer: Taco
Hell you have to get 2-3 of whatever to get an actual meal. The one
exception is their "Taco Salad" (which happens to be the only thing
I'll actually eat from there -- get it with beef). That you just
get the one of and it's plenty.
As to seatbelts, almost every state municipality has passed a
law requiring people in the front seats must wear their seatbelt. I
believe some states also include this for rear seats. Now, actual
enforcement of this.... is largely non-existent. It's more of a
nuisance thing they throw on your record when they nail you for
something else.
And why the fascination with Taco Hell? Surely not because of
that old Silvester Stalone movie? Given that the UK has no Mexican
restaurants (and even if you find one, trust me, it's not.... I've
been to yours), if you are in the US and want Mexican food (or even
TexMex), you can do a lot better than the crapola
from Taco Bell...
@ColinMercer 2
things. 1. can you send me the details for Thursday so I can send
them to a blogger who didn't get invited yet? and 2. It's a US
version the thing we talked about, right???
I think Zach was refering to Jeb's "US version of the thing we
talked about" statement.
And Chipolte is ok, but it's more TexMex than Mexican, and it's
nowhere near authentic, either -- it is fast food, after all.
Proper Mexican will be one of the smaller mom-and-pop shops (that
Chicago, at least, has many of) run by actual immigrants from
Mexico. Where you walk in and can barely understand what they're
saying if you don't speak Spanish, because their accent is so
thick.
Of course Chipotle isn't authentic... It's owned by McD's... :)
But I still think it tastes good. And yes, I like Taco Bell, too. I
don't pretend that either are authentic Mexican; I like their food
as something that tastes good and is Mexican-ish.
Re: Chicago pizza, I don't like deep-dish or whatever. I like
thin crust pizza, so even though Chicago rules, I might like New
York style pizza more. Might.
I'm a chipotle fan although I didn't even know there were any go
ny! Btw ny has hundreds of amazing restaurants man - gotta check
some of em out! Email / call me if you need some good recs. ;)
After having real Mexican, Taco Bell is a let down; but its
still good eats. My favs are the Seven Layer Buritto and Spicy
Chicken Burrito. Be careful of the guacamole (sp?); some places its
not so fresh and clean.
@colinmercer:
TexMex
The spices and such used are often a little different, as are the
way the meats are prepared (e.g., barbacoa is more a TexMex
thing).

haha. Yes to the safety belt. Taco Bell is just fast food, nothing great. But I usually get a burrito.

I honestly don't think a 3 mile walk is worth it for Taco Bell tacos.

i think its the alure of taco bell, not the taco's. they had taco's on the menu at the place we went so wouldnt worry :P

I suggest getting Mexican food when you're in San Francisco if you're coming
3 months ago by JebBrilliant.
@caw Only someone from Chicago could make such an outrageous claim about NY pizza... ;)

@zacharye: Only people from NY think oversized pieces of cardboard folded in half is "pizza"... :)

@Colin Did I just call the wrong number and wait on hold for no reason?

Nothing rang my end. In a meeting now. On jaiku mobile, if i click the call you button, what does that do?
3 months ago by colinmercer.
I have no idea. I don't think I have ever seen a "call you" button.

I don't have your number on me, so i'll try it when i'm free. If not we can work it out later
